intro：During the Anti-Japanese War, in Longmen Village of the North China base area, there were a father and son surnamed Zhao. The father (Shushi) was the captain of a militia squad, and his 12-year-old son Haiwa (Cai Yuanyuan) was the leader of a children's group. One day, Father Zhao asked Haiwa to deliver a letter to the Eighth Route Army regarding an attack on a Japanese artillery tower. Haiwa disguised himself as a shepherd boy, driving a herd of sheep while carrying the letter. On the way, Haiwa encountered the enemy and, in a moment of quick thinking, hid the letter under the tail of a sheep, escaping from danger. Haiwa was forced to guide the enemy, but at night, he took advantage of their sleep to retrieve the letter and escape. In the process, the letter was lost and then recovered, and Haiwa fell into the enemy's hands again. This time, the clever and brave boy led the enemy off course, and when the enemy realized they had been tricked, they injured Haiwa's hand, just as the Eighth Route Army arrived.
