intro：In the 1890s, two lighthouse keepers tried to maintain their sanity while living on a remote and mysterious New England island. As the sound of the foghorn echoed through the air, the taciturn former lumberjack Ephraim Winslow and the grizzled lighthouse keeper Thomas Wake set foot on a secluded and lifeless island off the New England coast at the end of the 19th century. During the next four weeks of strenuous work and adverse conditions, the two taciturn men, with no one but each other for company, were forced to endure an increasingly growing resentment. Then, amid ominous signs, a furious and unrelenting storm trapped the keepers on the already inhospitable volcanic rock, exacerbating a long-standing primal hunger; extreme suffering; maddening isolation; and terrifying drunken hallucinations.
