intro:In the early Tang Dynasty, the Crown Prince Li Jiancheng closely befriended Shi Yansheng (played by Wu Xingguo) and General Huo Da (played by Zhang Fengyi) under Prince Qin Li Shimin's command. The two encountered Princess Hong'e (played by Chen Chong) during a hunting ritual in the suburbs, and her enchanting beauty left a deep impression on Shi Yansheng. Soon after, the Xuanwu Gate Incident occurred, and Shi Yansheng learned about it through Huo Da but was powerless to change the situation. With the Crown Prince murdered, Shi Yansheng vowed to protect the Shijia family's honor by refusing to serve the Tang Dynasty, and together with five subordinates, they shaved their heads to become monks, hiding in a temple and waiting for an opportunity to rebel against Prince Qin. Not long after, Hong'e visited, and the group lingered in the bustling world below the mountain, realizing that the tide had turned and peace had returned to the world. On their way back, they were ambushed by the imperial army; Hong'e died by the sword, and Shi Yansheng was left in despair. He wandered to a run-down temple and was taken in by an old monk (played by Li Mingyang), but Shi Yansheng was haunted by past memories and unable to find peace. Soon, a woman resembling Hong'e appeared in the temple and shaved her head to become a nun, once again pulling Shi Yansheng back into the bonds of his memories... This film won several awards at the 1994 Hong Kong Film Awards, including Best New Actor and Best Film Music.
