Lainey's friend Aine (played by Spencer Locke) is a popular cheerleading captain, but unfortunately, their friendship quickly ends when they both develop feelings for a boy named Clapton (played by Josh Hutcherson). The death of a girl leads to eight students, including Aine and Clapton, being placed on probation, and they cannot step outside of the school unless they find the murderer. However, according to a mysterious student's account, past students on probation have all been killed by the psychopath, while they also discover that the world is set to end in ten minutes. To save their lives, Lainey drives a time machine back to the origin of everything in 1992, where she must determine if she can become the hero to save the world.
