Once inside the palace, guided by Hai Dafu, Wei Xiaobao meets the headstrong Princess Jianning (played by Lin Xinru) and the sinister and vicious Empress Dowager (played by Chen Farong), and accidentally becomes good friends with the young Kangxi (played by Tan Yaowen). On one hand, Wei Xiaobao devises plans for the Heaven and Earth Society to restore the Ming dynasty, while on the other hand, he helps Xiaoxuanzi clear the political obstacles in the path of the emperor. After numerous dangerous situations and narrow escapes, just when Xiaobao sees a bright future ahead, his choice between loyalty and righteousness puts him in a dilemma, leading him to give up his promising future and leave with his seven wives... This story is adapted from Jin Yong's novel 'The Deer and the Cauldron', also known as 'The Legend of Xiao Bao'.
