It turned out that they had feelings for each other when they were younger, but Deborah (played by Jennifer Connelly) had high ambitions and rationally kept the street thug Noodles (played by Scott Tiler) at arm's length. Noodles found a key in the cemetery and used it to open the storage locker where he had kept his suitcase back then. This time, the suitcase was filled with hundred-dollar bills and a note stating 'Advance payment for the next job...'.
